Have you had the privilege of scouring your truck for Dodge RAM Easter eggs? Finding a new one you weren’t aware of can be fascinating and potentially unknown to the rest of the RAM world.
These fun hidden gems are found throughout GM vehicles, from the Dodge Challenger to the Chrysler 300. However, RAM trucks seem to have the most creative Easter eggs. Let’s look at what we consider the best across different RAM and trim models.
What Is an Easter Egg?
Historically, an Easter egg is a special hidden clue or addition a game developer or movie director leaves behind in their work for players and viewers to find. These can be fairly obvious, while some can be so subtle you almost wouldn’t notice them with the naked eye.
Many Easter eggs connect various movies or reference other films and games, almost in a roundabout way of paying homage to the classics. Alternatively, directors will drop Easter eggs referencing other films they’ve made.
For example, in Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark, there’s a scene where they’re in a cave surrounded by hieroglyphs. If you look closely, two of the graphics etched into one of the columns are that of Star Wars robots R2D2 and C3PO (George Lucas directed both of these films).
Automakers leave Easter eggs in a similar way, using these gems to reference classic versions of a particular model. Sometimes they reference someone who worked on the vehicle or helped design it. And sometimes, they mean nothing at all.
A classic automobile Easter egg is the hidden car features on the Challenger. Along the windshield’s edge, a car is hidden behind some of the black trim.
There are tons of these hidden jewels all over different makes and models. But today, we give you the top five Dodge RAM Easter eggs.
1. The History of RAM Pickups
This is one of our favorite Easter eggs of all time, specifically because of the nostalgia factor, which is what Easter eggs are all about. Do you own a 2019 Dodge RAM 1500?
If you do, you might want to look underneath the Dodge RAM center console lid. There’s an embossed history of the Dodge RAM – clear as day.
Starting from the left, there’s a clear string of photo etches, beginning with what is clearly the original 1st Generation RAM from 1981. The second is – you guessed it, the 2nd Generation RAM.
The etched work cycles through, showing the 3rd and 4th Generations. This gallery culminates with the truck you’d be sitting in if you were looking at this Easter egg in person – a 2019 5th Generation RAM.
2. Math Notes
We don’t know if Dodge expects RAM owners to be math nerds. We wonder if RAM owners actually do math problems inside their vehicles. We’re thinking probably those in construction or engineering.
This Easter egg pays homage to all the on-the-fly math wizards out there and provides a little assistance in the process. Open up the center console and look at the plastic underside; you’ll find many different math notes and conversions.
This Easter egg includes the Pythagorean Theorem, a square and compass with detailed angles and measurements, and a chart referencing different decimal conversions. You’ll have no excuse for measuring a cut wrong ever again if you own a 2019 Dodge RAM 1500.
3. The Ruler
The team who put together the 2019 RAM determined that owners would have a way to arrive at precise measurements. This secret tool proves to be incredibly useful in the 2019 RAM 1500.
The wide section of each rear-floor stowage compartment contains a 15-inch ruler molded into the plastic out of the outer edges. Could it be another tool for contractors?
We like to believe this one is geared toward the fishermen out there, ensuring anything you catch and keep is at least a citation size. This one is easy to miss and blends in perfectly with the hard plastic it’s molded into.
4. The Clever Girl
This Easter egg on the 2020 Dodge RAM TRX is one of the easiest to spot but still cool nonetheless. After popping the hood of this RAM model, one of the first things you notice is the massive airbox lid.
Pop this lid off, and what do you see staring you right in the face? The etched likeness of a T-Rex eating a Raptor.
5. Must Go Faster
Finally, we share with you the final Easter egg, another clever jab at Ford. Underneath the Dodge RAM center console of the 20202 RAM TRX, you’ll see an embossed picture of the giant T-Rex following closely behind the smaller Velociraptor, depicting the famous scene from Jurassic Park.
Behind the T-Rex is Dr. Ian Malcolm, urging the much smaller Raptor that they “must go faster.” RAM certainly doesn’t take it easy on Ford with the 2020 TRX.
Find Your Easter Eggs
Now that you have a better idea of the best Dodge RAM Easter eggs, go forth and see how many of your own you can find. One thing is for sure – you’ll never look at the nooks and crannies of another car or truck the same again.
