Toyota 4Runner Tire Size

2023 Toyota 4runner

The Toyota 4Runner is a rugged and versatile SUV that has been popular with consumers for many years. Featuring an unrivaled combination of off-road performance, towing capacity, and interior space, it is the perfect vehicle for anyone who needs a reliable and capable all-around SUV.

With a variety of different tire sizes available, the 4Runner can easily accommodate whatever driving needs you may have. Whether you need to handle rough terrain or heavy loads, this versatile vehicle has got you covered. We’ve always liked the 4Runner since it’s a great gateway off-road or overlanding SUV.

The vast majority of today’s 4Runners use a 265/70R17 size tire as standard and sport a 17-inch wheel size (rim size). However, they can be fitted with larger 285/70/17 (33-inch) wheels without requiring body modifications. This makes the 4Runner an incredibly versatile vehicle that can tackle both everyday driving needs and more challenging off-road terrain.

What Toyota 4Runner Tire Sizes Are Available from the Factory?

Toyota 4Runner tires

The Toyota 4Runner is available in a variety of different tire sizes depending on the trim level. The most common type is the standard 265/70R17 size tire. It’s suitable for most driving conditions, while the Limited trim levels come with larger 245/60R20 size tire for increased performance and traction.

Both of these options are the same size at 32 inches, making them ideal for drivers who want a combination of comfort, handling, and durability.

However, if you are looking to replace your tires for even more performance or off-road capabilities, there are also several other options available from the factory. These include 245/60R20 size tire for Sport and TRD Pro trim levels and 265/70R17 size tire for Trail models.

So whether you need an all-weather tire for year-round driving or a more aggressive off-road tire for challenging terrain, the Toyota 4Runner has you covered.

What Size Tires Can You Put on a Toyota 4Runner?

Off-road tire

There are a variety of tire sizes that can be used on a Toyota 4Runner, depending on your needs and preferences. If you want to stick with the original factory settings and don’t need any modifications, you’ll have to use a 32-inch size tire.

But if you want to increase the tire size to 33 inches, you can use running wheel spacers. However, you’ll need to cut or remove your bumper valance to accommodate the 33-inch size tire. Any other larger tire size and you’ll need to do some modification. Added lift and wider treads may require you to carve out your wheel well and change out suspension parts.

For off-roading conditions, such as in snow and mud, there are a variety of tire options available for the Toyota 4Runner. For example, you can use dedicated winter/snow tires that have deep tread patterns and wider spacing between the tread blocks to help with grip on slippery surfaces.

Alternatively, you can use all-terrain tires that are designed for off-road use but also offer good performance on dry and wet roads. Whatever tire option you choose, it’s important to make sure that your 4Runner is equipped with a proper suspension system to support the increased weight of larger tires.

What Aftermarket Tire Upgrades Can You Do with a Toyota 4Runner?

One of the most popular ways to upgrade the Toyota 4Runner is to install larger rims and tires. This can be done either by purchasing aftermarket wheel/tire/lift kits or by modifying your existing wheels and tires to fit larger ones.

You can find several lift kit and level kit options available for the 4Runner, which can help improve the performance and appearance of your vehicle. These kits can typically be installed fairly easily and can allow you to customize the look and feel of your 4Runner based on your personal preferences.

Finally, there are a number of different wheel/tire packages available for the 4Runner, ranging from basic all-terrain tires to more aggressive off-road tires. Depending on your needs and the type of driving you typically do, these packages can help improve the performance and handling of your car while also giving it a more personalized look.

Know What to Look For

When choosing a set of tires for your vehicle, it is important to consider different tire sizes and different diameters. This will depend on your specific needs and requirements, as well as the terrain you plan to drive on.

You also want to pay attention to speed rating, as well as the aspect ratio. Aspect ratios are the height of the tire in relation to its width.

In addition, make sure you match up the load index with your vehicle’s weight. If you are buying a new set of tires for your 4Runner, it can also be helpful to choose ones that have been designed specifically for SUVs and trucks. That way, you will know they will be durable enough for your vehicle.
